Leamington Liftbridge closure

15 September 2018
Liftbridge

FCI and local groups are very concerned about the recent closure of the liftbridge, which effectively locks off the basin for travelling boats. Get in touch with Re-Union Canal Boats to add your voice about this closure. The liftbridge is central to all the Masterplans - not only as a cross canal route but for its iconic role in providing a living demonstration of Victorian innovative engineering for the public, and for local residents who love it!

Richard Allan has written a short history piece about it - look in our background documents.

Bio-diversity and Edinburgh City Sounds FRIDAY 6th APRIL 4-7pm

29 March 2018
Edinburgh CitySounds is an experimental project that focusses on how sounds captured in the Meadows can inform people about biodiversity, health and well-being, as well as provide a unique resource for artists and data scientists.

There are a number of CitySounds events happening to mark the end of the first phase of the project, in particular a ’walking’ workshop about sound in the city led by Zoë Griffiths— see below for more information. Although there is high demand for the workshop, we have earmarked 6 spaces for members of local community groups and initiatives. If you are interested in attending, could you please get in touch with Cat Magill (C.Magill@ed.ac.uk) ASAP?
There is also an opportunity for anyone who is interested to visit and interact with an art installation at St. Cecilia’s Hall that uses sounds collected on the Meadows. Anyone attending the workshop with Zoë will also be able to visit the installation. More information here: https://citysounds.eu/2018/03/citysounds-makes-a-noise/.
