RE-UNION CANAL BOATS PETITION REACHES 295

30 January 2016

The number of signatures supporting the petition to ensure that Re-Union Canal Boats is found a home by the canal side has gone way over the 200 required and reached 295! This petition to the City of Edinburgh Council Having  says that having Re-Union in a canal-side location is crucial if the benefits of the canal in the centre of our city are to be realised and should be a priority for the delivery of development at Fountainbridge.

The Council is a major landowner in the area and through EDI is leading on the development of the site at Fountainbridge. The petitioner called upon the Council and EDI, as a matter of priority to develop options to secure both short term premises for Re-Union and a lasting presence in the Fountainbridge canal -side site.

This will be considered by the Petition Committee this Wednesday 3rd February at 2pm. Public are allowed to watch or see it on live streaming.
